John M. Cho, MD, Executive Director
John M. Cho, MD is a retired US Army Brigadier General with over 20 years of senior executive experience in healthcare operations, management, and administration and in leading the planning and direction of complex health management organizations — from clinics to large healthcare systems. Most recently he was the responsible General Officer (GO) for 200 senior corporate headquarters staff and all Army Medicine issues related to information management, information technology, cyber, clinical informatics, the new $4.5B DoD electronic health record (MHS Genesis, Army Functional GO Champion), military and civilian human resources, talent management and medical logistics for the US Army Medical Command, a $11.5B healthcare system with 65,000 personnel serving 1.5M beneficiaries worldwide. He has a proven track record of leading change, achieving value for large organizations through creative and effective strategic problem solving, and effective coaching and mentoring leading to former subordinates serving as the CEO of hospitals and large clinics.
Dr. Cho is a Certified Physician Executive (CPE) of the American Association for Physician Leadership since 2011, Board Certified in Cardiothoracic and General Surgery, American Board of Surgery, since 1995 and 1998 respectively and a Fellow American College of Surgeons (FACS) since 2000.
Diane joined the staff in 1994. As the Executive Assistant she provides direct support to the Executive Director and the Board of Directors. She is the primary point of contact for the corporate members, the AMSUS-SM group, and enjoys the relationships she has formed with them. Diane is a former U.S. Marine and enjoys yoga, baking and being outdoors.
In her role as Financial Manager, Diana maintains AMSUS’ fiscal functions, financial documentation, and provides HR support. Her improved financial reporting and skills to maintain the budget while managing staff needs are recognized key accomplishments. Over her many years of attending the Annual Meeting, seeing our attendees in full dress uniform and the presentation of Colors at the Awards Dinner are a source of inspiration.
Director of Meetings
Jeanette Naiman, CMP
Jeanette joined AMSUS in 2012 and brings over 20 years of experience in conference planning and management. Through her broad range of meeting planning and logistics skills, she provides services varying from securing and negotiating hotel services to coordinating the development, production, and distribution of meeting materials and providing onsite support at meetings and conferences. She is responsible for over site of the exhibit hall, registration and housing. Jeanette enjoys running and has completed several half marathons!
Continuing Education Programs Manager
Lori joined AMSUS in 2013 as the Manager of Continuing Education Programs. She is involved with the planning, development, implementation, and evaluation of AMSUS educational offerings related to sessions at the Annual Continuing Education Meeting, webinars and CE/CME articles for the Journal of Military Medicine, a webinar or a CE article for the journal. Her tasks include reviewing abstract and manuscript submissions for compliance with ACCME and related continuing medical education criteria. Lori’s background includes adult professional education management and educational instruction. Outside of work, she enjoys riding bicycles and motorcycles, sharing good food, and spending fun times with family and friends. She strives to learn something new every day!
Marketing and Communications Manager
Mel is the Marketing & Communications Manager for AMSUS. She works with the association to develop and execute an interactive marketing strategy to spread word about the organization and educate the public about what AMSUS has to offer. Mel joined the association in March of 2014. She has more than fifteen years of experience in communications from work in multi-media PR, sports marketing, and member outreach in non-profit. When not at her desk, Mel loves to run a marathon or two, teach fitness classes, travel and cook. She also holds a WSET II certification.
Susan joined the AMSUS team in 2009, bringing with her over two decades of membership, marketing, graphic design, and association management experience in the military and medical industry. With MWR, she marketed West Point’s Hotel Thayer and opened & designed the logo for Walter Reed’s Malogne House. Susan has worked at associations representing industries including Food & Drug Law, fireworks concrete, and more. At AMSUS, she manages membership needs, services, programs, and the AMSUS store. Susan also recruits members at various meetings and exhibits.
When not happily assisting AMSUS members, Susan can be found hiking in Turkey, visiting a coal mine in Wales, or visiting a fireworks factory in Rio!
Director of Development
Stacie joined the AMSUS team in March 2014, managing exhibits and sponsorship opportunities at the Annual Meeting. As of January 2018, her sponsorship responsibilities expanded to include the development of corporate support for AMSUS including the Executive Advisory Board, Cornerstone Partners and all Annual Meeting Sponsorships.
Stacie graduated from Salisbury University and brings more than ten years of experience within the event industry to AMSUS. Stacie enjoys warm weather and the beach, a good Malbec, and spending time with her husband and young daughter.
