Q. What benefits do I receive for registering for the AMSUS Annual Meeting?

A. The AMSUS Annual Meeting is the only one of its kind to bring over 3,000 military healthcare professionals together as well as over 80 International Delegates. Throughout the Annual meeting attendees have the ability to receive CE from world renowned speakers; network across services nationally and internationally and view demonstrations of the latest technology in healthcare. Our exhibit hall offers over 300 different exhibitors composed of VA hospitals, non-profit organizations, medical device manufactures, mobile medical units, and pharmaceutical companies.

With purchase of registration all attendees gain entrance into all lectures, poster sessions, and the exhibit hall. Your registration fee also includes your continuing education credits and a complementary welcome reception.

Q. Do I have to be a member to attend the AMSUS Annual Meeting?

A. No, you do not. However, membership is strongly encouraged.

Q. Do I have to attend the entire meeting?

A. It is not mandatory that you attend the entire meeting. The main meeting days are Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. However, AMSUS offers special programs before and after those days. We ask our attendees to look at our preliminary program and decide what lectures they are most interested in attending and request orders appropriately.


Q. Is there a reduced registration fee for only attending the meeting for one day?

A. AMSUS registration rates are extremely inexpensive compared to other medical meetings. As a result, we do not offer a one day or multi-day passes. We have one flat rate for all who attend the convention.

Q. Do I have to register for the Meeting, if I only want to attend one lecture?

A. Yes! No one will be admitted into any lecture without a badge.

Q. Do speakers pay a registration fee?

A. Speakers do not have to pay a registration fee however, they will not be granted a badge, access to other lectures, or CE. This same rule applies to Poster Presenters.

Q. Do speakers receive an honorarium?

A. AMSUS awards honoraria on a case by case basis. Most if not all speakers are on federal orders and cannot accept or receive outside funds. Civilian speakers who are in need of funding are to request support from within the section they are speaking.

Q. When does registration and the hotel block open?

A. Registration and our Hotel Block opens mid-July.

Q. When does registration and the hotel block close?

A. Registration never closes. There is however, an early bird discounted rate. The Hotel block closes one month before the Annual Meeting. This is a contractual obligation between the hotels and AMSUS. Please book your hotel room early!


Q. What happens when I book a hotel reservation outside the AMSUS housing Block?

A. The Association negotiates the lowest rate per sleeping room per night for our attendees. These rates are negotiated five to seven years before the actual event date. If the Annual Meeting attendees go outside of the AMSUS the housing block the Association pays an attrition fee. This fee can range anywhere from $60,000-$80,000; depending on the hotel contract. If this penalty does occur, the Association may charge each attendee who is staying outside the block, $50-$100. This fee will need to be paid during badge pick up. Lack of payment will result in forfeit of registration and all CE.

Q. What is the Dress for the Annual Meeting?

A. The dress for the week is BDU, ACU, Service Khaki, and or Flight Suit. If you are a speaker we encourage you to wear Class A’s. The Association Annual Dinner is the only event where mess dress is required.

Q. How many Continuing Education Credits can I receive from attending the AMSUS Annual Meeting?

A. Due to the nature of our meeting the exact amount of CE is not determined until a few weeks before the meeting. AMSUS does offer ADA Cerp, Pre-approved Category II (non-ACHE), CNE, COPE, ACPE, ACCME, AMA Category I credits, SSW, and a general certificate of attendance towards AMA PRA Category I credits.

Q. How do I exhibit?

A. AMSUS Exhibit Management Company is SLACK incorporated. You can either call their office directly or visit the AMSUS website for information.


Q. What are the benefits to being an exhibitor?

A. As an exhibitor you will have three days to network with over 3,000 of the Nation’s finest military medical personnel. We also offer exhibitors many sponsorship opportunities so that you are extremely memorable to every attendee.

Q. What type of exhibitor am I?

A. All commercial exhibitors are commercial companies, associations and non-profit organizations. To qualify as an agency exhibitor, one must be a federal agency.

Q. How do I become an exhibitor?

A. You must first fill out the agency or commercial prospectus application. Once SLACK has received your registration and payment they will give you a user name and password to access the exhibitor kit.


Q. What is the exhibitor kit?

A. The exhibitor kit allows you to order carpet, furniture and electricity for your booth at the Annual Meeting. This is the third step of your exhibitor process. You must first fill out a prospectus, payment must be made, and then a password will be sent to you.

Q. Does AMSUS give exhibitor discounts?

A. No

Q. How many badges do I receive?

A. Each 10x10 booth receives four badges. Additional badges are $50.00 per person.

Q. As an exhibitor can I attend lectures?

A. Yes!!! If you wish to receive CE you will need to pay the attendee registration fee.

Q. How do I qualify to be an International Delegate?

A. International Delegates are active (not retired) military medical personnel who serve countries outside the United States.


Q. How do I register as an International Delegate for the AMSUS Annual Meeting?

A. Please visit the International Registration page and download a registration form. Then email or fax your registration form to AMSUS. International Delegates do not register through the AMSUS registration website.
