First Time Submission

Q.  What are the technical requirements to enable access to the Author or Reviewer portals for Military Medicine?

A.  The minimum system requirements for a PC is Windows 2000, 2003, XP, Vista, or Windows 7; Internet Explorer IE 6.0 and later or Firefox 0.9 and later; Adobe Acrobat Reader 6.0 or higher;  and an email client (program).

The minimum for a Mac is Mac OS X; Firefox 1.0 and later or Safari 3.0 and later; Adobe Acrobat Reader 6.0 or higher; and an email client (program).

Q. What if I have difficulty accessing the Author or Reviewer website?

  A. Usually these problems arise due to computer security settings, the browser you are using, or pop-up blockers. Listed below are a few suggestions:

  • If you are using Internet Explorer, you may want to add Editorial Manager www.editorialmanager.com/milmed to your list of Trusted Sites and enable pop-ups.
  • If you are using Internet Explorer click the Tools button, click pop-up blockers to enable or disable them.
  • Holding down the control key will bypass most popup window blockers in case you have more than one blocker running.


Q. What if I continue to have access problems?

 A. To better assist you with your problems, please have the following information available when you call the Journal office:

  • Which operating system are you using? (Windows, Vista or Mac and the version number)
  • Which browser version are you using? (Internet Explorer, Netscape, Safari, or Firefox and the version number)
  • Do you receive an error message? If so, which specific error message do you receive?

 

Q. If I am a first-time author for Military Medicine and I want to submit a manuscript, how do I begin using the electronic submission process?

  A.You may go directly to the Military Medicine Editorial Manager portal www.editorialmanager.com/milmedhttp://www.amsus.org/index.php/journal/submit-a-manuscript and begin the submission process.  You will first need to establish an author account by following the directions on the portal page.  Once you have submitted your information an email with your user name and password will be sent to the email address you provided.  Once your account is established you may submit a manuscript at any time. or through the AMSUS website   

If you require manuscript preparation assistance you may access Military Medicine’s Guideline for Authors from the Editorial Manager portal page and then choose “Instructions to Authors” located just below the AMSUS logo or you may visit our website, http://www.amsus.org/index.php/journal/submit-a-manuscript.

Q. What file formats are acceptable for manuscript submissions?

  A. MS Word or Word Perfect are acceptable for the text, tables and figures; tif or eps for photos and medical diagnostic graphics.

 

Q. I am not sure I successfully submitted my manuscript. How do I confirm this?

  A. You will receive a confirming email indicating that the system has received your manuscript.  You may also sign into your author account to see if the manuscript appears in your author main menu.

 

Q. My manuscript is still in the Submission Being Processed.   Is there a problem?

  A. There are a number of behind the scenes steps that are involved at each level of the process, so it may appear that your manuscript is not moving, but in fact it is progressing though the system.
