AMSUS-SM Meeting

Location:         Phoenix Convention Center, AMSUS Annual Meeting

Mary Summers, Chair, called the meeting to order at 2:30PM.

Marian Benz, Secretary/Treasurer, read the Anti-Competitive Statement, reported there was no treasurer’s report for the meeting.

Mary started the meeting with announcements including the following:

  • Process for election of new officers and new company members
  • Federal Practitioner Reception will follow AMSUS SM meeting from 3:30-5:30pm

Jim Young, Vice Chair, introduced SM candidate companies:

  • Molnycke Health Care. – Approved for membership 
  • Safe Life Corporation – Approved for membership 

Jim also provided an update on the ceremony (8 Nov 10) for the dedication of the new Ross Clinic, Goodfellow AFB, TX

Major General George K. Anderson, MD, MPH, USAF, MC (Ret.), Executive Director, AMSUS announced newly elected AMSUS board members, Vice Admiral Cowan, Charlie Hostettler, and Ben Daughtry

Doug Remeikis, Veterans Administration Liaison, noted there were no updates to provide

Charlie Hostettler, Department of Defense Liaison, announced that Everitt McAllister, Col (Ret), will be replaced by Col George Jones at TRICARE Management Activity.

Marcus Farbstein, Legislative Liaison, provide an update regarding the following:

  • Upcoming election – anticipated no major changes in HCR for Pharma industry regardless of outcome
  • TRICARE Retail – details still unfolding
  • 340B – Status of orphan drug is still an outstanding issue

Mary Chambers, Chair, submitted candidates for the 2011 offices of AMSUS-SM Chairman, Vice-Chair, and Secretary/Treasurer

  • There being no further business, there was a motion and a second to adjourn.

The meeting was adjourned at 3:30 pm
