From the Chairman, AMSUS Chapters Section
A lot of great things are going on with our chapters. First, all chapters now have the opportunity to have their own "web page" as part of the AMSUS web-site. Information has been sent out to each chapter's representative to participate in the program. We look forward to posting your chapter's information, including officers, activities, both past and present and upcoming events. If you already have a chapter web-site, a link from the AMSUS site can be installed. This is a great marketing tool to help increase the membership for our chapters.
As part of our ongoing commitment to meet the needs of the chapters, I have contacted a member from each chapter to participate on an ad hoc committee to develop recommendations and some potential goals and objectives to help chapters develop and grow. If you have not been contacted, but wish to participate, please send me an e-mail at the address below and we will welcome you to the committee.
As a reminder, please consider attending our annual meeting in Salt Lake City, UT from 11 - 16 November 2007. Each year the quality and importance of attending this meeting continues to grow. The exchange of thoughts concepts and ideas make it one of the most productive of any organizational meetings. Our current world and what is going on in it, make it almost mandatory that you should participate in the AMSUS annual meeting.
In planning for the Chapters Section meeting, we need your input to make the meeting effective. If there are any special topics you would like to have presented, e.g. structuring a chapter, obtaining a federal employer identification number (EIN), applying a state sales tax exemption, or obtaining guest speakers, let us know.
We anticipate that the annual chapter report forms will be distributed in early fall. Additionally, invitations to various chapter functions will also be sent out. Please respond to them at your earliest convenience.
We are planning to have a meeting for all of the AMSUS student mentors at AMSUS' annual meeting. The time and date is on Wednesday, November 14th at 11am in the same room as the chapter breakfast meeting. Please see the preliminary program for specifics.
