As part of AMSUS’ Congressional Charter, an advisory group to AMSUS was created to provide leadership and knowledge to AMSUS and its members. Today that group is known as the Executive Advisory Council.
Members of this group, as well as an appointed President of AMSUS, are drawn from the following federal positions: The Assistant Secretary of Defense for Health Affairs; Chief Medical Officer, Department of Homeland Security; the Under Secretary for Health of the Department of Veterans Affairs; the President of the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences; the Surgeons General of the Army, the Navy, the Air Force, and the Public Health Service; Director of the Defense Health Agency; and the Department of Defense Joint Staff Surgeon.
