An Exclusive Benefit of AMSUS Membership
AMSUS will award up to three $1,000 Maj Gen Jerry Sanders Scholarships in 2019 for students pursuing a healthcare-related career. Only individual AMSUS members, their spouses and children are eligible.
The AMSUS Scholarship program is funded by an endowment from TRIWEST Healthcare Alliance and honors Maj Gen Jerry Sanders, USAF, MC (Ret); former Vice President of Medical Affairs for TRIWEST Healthcare Alliance. Major General Sanders retired from the Air Force in 1991 as the Deputy Surgeon General. He is a Life member of AMSUS and a former member of the AMSUS Board of Directors.
Congratulations 2019 Scholarship Recipients
The AMSUS Board of Directors Scholarship Subcommittee is pleased to announce that it has selected three individuals as recipients of the Major General Jerry Sanders Scholarship. Each will receive $1,000 toward their healthcare education goals.
Left to right:
Sara Brisson, daughter of COL Paul Brisson, MC, USA (Ret) is attending University of Hartford – Graduate Institute of Professional Psychology. She is expected to graduate in 2022 with a Doctorate of Psychology and then become a military psychologist.
Sean Munroe, son of COL Michelle Munroe, AN, USA is attending Clark University and studying Biochemistry and Molecular Biology. He is expected to graduate in 2020 with a Bachelor’s Degree and then pursue a career in medicine.
Alaina Wong, daughter of CDR Carol Wong, UPSHS, will enter the University of Maryland Baltimore County in Fall 2019 with the goal of completing premedical studies education as a Biology major.
Congratulations to all of our scholarship recipients! The 2020 AMSUS Scholarship Program will be open for submissions in Spring 2020 and announcements will be made in the AMSUS News & Update email, in AMSUS Smart Brief, and in AMSUS Twitter, Facebook and LinkedIn social media posts.
